Kathy McVay is a retired kindergarten teacher who devoted her career to serve the children of Perry County and the public schools of Alabama. She and her husband, George reside in Suttle, Alabama where they share their 1860’s farmhouse with a menagerie of animals.

In addition to her involvement with the Black Belt Community Foundation, she also serves on the Boards of Cahaba Mental Health Center, Alabama Institute for Education in the Arts and The Alabama Education Association. She is a member of the Suttle Volunteer Fire Department, American Association of University Women and Who’s Who in America’s Teachers. Kathy was humbled to represent 92,000 members of the Alabama Education Association as president, 2001-02, 2002-03.

Kathy is proud to live in the black belt and believes in the generous, resilient spirit of hope in her community. She deems it a great an honor to serve on the Black Belt Community Foundation Board."
