BBCF AssociatesWhitney Green

Whitney Hope Green, a native of Perry County, AL, is the daughter of Mr. Earl Wayne Green and Ms. Wanda Vaughan Green.  Whitney was introduced to art at an early age by her maternal grandmother who “taught” her to draw and later influenced her parents to enroll her in private art classes.

During high school Whitney redirected her focus from art to the various activities and organizations in which she was involved.  She graduated from Marion Academy with an Advanced Honors Diploma in May 2000, and returned to her passion for art upon her admission to Judson College that fall.  Whitney pursued a double-major in art and history realizing, through those classes, her passion for the Black Belt and its influence on her works.

Since receiving a Bachelor of Arts in June 2005, Whitney has worked at the Marion-Perry County Library and Liberty Antiques in Marion.   She joined the BBCF staff in April 2006 as the Black Belt Arts Initiative Coordinator.  Whitney is anxious to interact with other artists and organizations to revive the Black Belt through the arts.
